Partnership With Children's Health Council
We've partnered with the Children's Health Council (CHC), a local nonprofit organization providing best-in-class education and mental health services to thousands of children, teens and young adults each year.
The Children's Health Council (CHC) is a local nonprofit organization providing best-in-class education and mental health services to thousands of children, teens and young adults each year.
The Michael Harris Foundation Fund at CHC provides much-needed treatment, training and education to both those struggling with anxiety and depression and the mental health experts, like Michael, who devote their lives to helping them.
The fund supports CHC with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) training and education, which impacts thousands of youth. DBT is the gold-standard in evidence-based treatment for severe anxiety and depression, suicidal ideation and self-harm, and is the cornerstone of CHC Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Training more clinicians in DBT is the first step in providing more kids, teens, educators and families with these life-changing (often life-saving) skills. Finally, directly impacting clinicians helps us honor those who are on the ground, continuing Michael's important work.
Partnership With Menlo School
Menlo School is an institution which, perhaps more than any other, shaped Michael. It was his home for 7 years as a student, and the place where he was drawn to give back. We want to continue Michael's work making Menlo an even healthier community for students to thrive. We're excited to support a series of program with Menlo:
Sources of Strength: The Sources of Strength program was new to Menlo in 2015 and Michael worked on it directly. The program engages peer leaders and empowers them to be positive forces in the community — just like Michael.
Speakers @ Menlo: Michael had direct connection and attachment to supporting broader youth and mental wellbeing, so we also bring speakers to Menlo to promote mental wellness.
Extending the Impact
We are discussing opportunities to collaborate with additional organizations focused on adolescent and emerging adult mental wellness. For organizations interested in learning more, please contact the foundation.
